“Toning is an ancient method of healing. The idea is to simply restore people to their harmonic patterns.”
The voice is considered to be the most powerful healing instrument. Other instruments used for healing are those which produce a lot of harmonics, or overtones. It is these harmonics which are considered to be the magic ingredient in sound healing. Such instruments include crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, gongs, tuning forks and others.
As in an orchestra, the first step is for every member to put their individual instrument in tune, in order to then tune with all the other musicians, thus creating harmony. The same practice could ideally be used for the human being. First to become in tune and in rhythm with oneself in order to secondly, become in harmony with everyone and everything around us, thus creating one harmonious world.
The ancients were aware of the importance of our connection with nature and all its creatures. They realized that abusing nature would also negatively affect human beings, as we all come under the same natural laws. We are all members of the same universal orchestra. Today we find ourselves very much out of harmony with nature and indeed with other beings. Man’s greed and ignorance has led to vast abuse of nature’s reserves, and climate change, natural disasters, new unkown human diseases, and the disappearance of thousands of species of animals and plants, are just some of the consequences.
It is time to change our consciousness and realize that we are all part of a Whole. It is time to bring the old and the new together – old wisdom and new technologies. Old religions and new ways of thinking, science and art, music and medicine. It is a time for healing all that separates. A time to realize that all is One and what happens in one area affects another. It is time to work as a Whole for the benefit of All.
Healing with sound.
“There will come a time when a diseased condition of the soul life will not be described as it is today by psychologists, but it will be spoken of in musical terms, as one would speak, for instance of a piano that was out of tune.”
Harmony.
“We did not weave the web of life, we are merely a strand in it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves.”
Nature.
“From every heart one prayer. That all men live as one and nature and peace reign everywhere.”
